Friday’s Free Refill: Endings

Starting something new today. Got the idea from my Heartwriter Blog, www.heartwriter.wordpress.com,  where I write a Monday’s Random Thought. Fridays on this website, I will post a random thought and hopefully it will refill your cup, add reflection to your day or inspiration to your heart.

One thing that was all mine this summer was reading. I am just about finished with A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and I feel like I am losing a friend. Francie, the heroine of the American Classic is growing up, she has just fallen in love for the first time and seems like yesterday she was eleven and climbing trees.

Even though I am nearly finished with the book I don’t have to feel like I am losing a friend. The escape the book provided me these summer days was life giving. A guaranteed refill. The story can always live with me, be a part of me. I read a few pages here and there throughout the day then in the evening the time was all mine to turn the pages and live in Francie’s world of growing up in Brooklyn in the early 1900’s.

Perhaps I am reading the book slowly because I don’t want summer to end. We never want good things to end do we? But with every good ending there are more good beginnings just waiting to start.

Maybe something good in your life is ending to make room for the next part of your journey.

Oh my gosh!! I love that book! I read it in elementary school, believe it or not and I totally fell in love with it. It’s been so long, and I was so young, I probably missed a lot of the depth, I should read it again. Thanks for reminding me of a great book. :)

Yes, I bet as an adult you’ll even get more out of it. I am considering suggesting to my 9 year old daughter but think I’ll wait a couple years. You are welcome, and happy reading!!!
